Professional Development Policy


1. Rationale

Statement of purpose
Learninghouse School & College System stands committed to help the organization retain its vision, and energize the drive and ambition to achieve the highest standards of professional excellence through offering and implementing contemporary professional development programs for LSS teachers, school leaders and managers. Understanding the importance of staff development, training and individual learning is paramount to achieving organization training goals. This can be accomplished through general or targeted training. The purpose of training and development is to:

  • Enable and encourage employees to work to their full potential to support the organization.
  • Ensure that all staff have the requisite knowledge and skills to perform their jobs effectively now and in future.
  • Encourage each individual trainee to develop her/ his school or other workplace to achieve its full potential and to meet the needs of the organization.

Aim
To move from good to great on a journey to excellence by involvement and empowerment of all, leading ultimately to personal humility and professional will to succeed both in terms of professional growth and organizational development.


2. Focus Strategy and standards

  • In pursuit of realisation of the aim above, emphasis is to be laid equally forcefully on the following two key aspects of the training process:
  • To ensure that contents of the training are embedded in modern theories and practices related to the topic at hand, and yet in alignment with our own particular context.
  • To ensure the transfer of training LSS will devise a vigorous follow-up strategy aimed at making training a continuous process rather than an isolated event or a periodic episode.

Location

  • Internal: within the organization for teachers and staff / corporate workforce only
  • Face to face training for Cambridge from British Council
  • INSET (In-Service Teachers Training)
  • Need-based (mandatory for all LSS staff)

Fitness for Purpose
LSS will develop and implement contemporary training courses / programmes based on own research, knowledge and experience, users’ feedback and / or in collaboration with foreign and local educational institutes / scholars of repute to cater to the requirements of the LSS staff at different levels of their careers and organisational hierarchy. Following the categories below:

Implementation/Follow-up of training programmes
The follow-up of the training programs will be in accordance with the follow-up mechanism mentioned in the participants course booklets for each respective program. The school Head will ensure the smooth implementation and follow- up of the training programs.

Assessment of assignments will be in accordance with the assessment criteria mentioned in the participants course booklets for each respective program.
